Indian Environment Network to Indian Environment Market

We spent a day out with Dr. Prakash Kashwan on February 4, 2017. Watch the video and if you still have any questions, submit it at .

How do societies negotiate the apparently competing agendas of environmental protection and social justice? If you are intrigued by the topic join us to learn more from Dr. Prakash Kashwan, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, University of Connecticut.

Dr. Prakash Kashwan, has dedicated his life towards understanding the connection between conservation and social justice. Prakash was one of Prof. Elinor Ostrom, Nobel prize recipient's doctoral students at the School of Public & Environmental Affairs, Indiana University, Bloomington.

We chose Dr. Prakash Kashwan as one of the first Human Stars under our "Day out with a Human Star" series to highlight the importance of his recently released book - "Democracy in the woods- Environmental Conservation and Social Justice in India, Tanzania, and Mexico" by Oxford University Press, January 2017.

Chandra Kishore, Founder, Indian Environment Network ( brings you inspiring stories of courage and conservation and social justice directly from the author. Refer us a HumanStar at ien(at)
