Recently, while I was in Azamgarh at my home village I was reported about several things including migration of villagers to cities, deserted villages, and bad conditions of agriculture.

One of my relations there told me that besides drought they were suffering from a new problem with paddy crop and the problem was shown by him after we reached to his paddy field.

The leaves were rolled and white streaks appeared on them. After picking out a leaf he showed me the eggs of insect arranged linearly inside the rolled leaf. It not attended in time the problem may cause serious downfall in the paddy production.

I advised the man to consult immediately to the block office and to take important advice from there so as to check any further spread of the problem.

The problem is caused by leaf roller fly which lays eggs inside the tubular leaf, and the leaf is made tubular by rolling the same with the help of a highly sticky silken thread that is produced by the fly itself.

The recent report of the NITI Aayog highlights the alarming water crisis India is facing -- 21 cities are expected to run out of groundwater by 2020. This underscores the need to frame a NWP that not only addresses imminent challenges but also establishes a framework and pathway to sustainable, efficient and equitable management of surface and groundwater resources.  The blog proposes a clear roadmap with a clear responsibility and accountability structure. Adoption of an ecosystem-based approach, climate proofing watersheds, promotion of 'water stewardship', the Water Governance Standard and climate-resilient agriculture are key towards achieving desirable changes in the water sector in India.

Waste and Resource Management at Schools

Avoid sending waste to a landfill..

Separating waste is the first step in managing your school’s rubbish. Set up bins for the different kinds of waste, and make sure the right bins are used. You should have clearly labelled bins for glass, paper, plastic, cans and for organic waste.

Educate staff and students about using other ways of disposing of waste, such as recycling, reusing and composting.

It’s an immense pleasure to have children around to change their school to sustainable and eco-friendly campus…   3839123138?profile=original
