Applications are invited for the following purely temporary post in ICSSR, New Delhi sponsored project on “A Study of Evaluation of University Grants Commission’s Six Months Compulsory Course in Environmental Studies for Undergraduate Students of Senior Colleges in Chandrapur City, Maharashtra”.

The person to be considered for appointment as a Research Assistant must have first class M.Sc. in Environmental Science (50% in case of SC/ST/PH) in first attempt. The candidate should be below the age of 40 years at the time of appointment. The appointment will be purely on a contractual basis for a period of 12 months initially or till his/her services are required by the Project Director or till the validity of the project, whichever is earliest on a consolidated monthly payment of Rs. 13,000/- only. For other terms and conditions ICSSR rules shall be applicable.

Candidates with prior experience of working in carbon/biomass estimation will be highly preferred. The selected candidate will serve as the remote sensing and GIS subject-matter expert on a team comprised of multiple experts.  This is a full-time, salaried position, and salary will be based on education and experience. The film looks at the wilderness of the Himalayan region with special reference to Nepal. Nepal fosters an incredible variety of eco systems and is a hotspot of bio diversity. While depicting the natural beauty of Nepal, the film also projects the 'community forests' concept in Nepal which has proved a success in maintaining the wetland area of "twenty thousand lakes", a paradise for bird watchers.

The concerns facing wildlife protection are projected in the overall role it plays in the ecology of the entire area. The evolution and extinction of species is looked at in the backdrop of the spectacular natural history event by which the Himalayan mountains were formed sixty million years ago. Digital animation techniques have helped visualize the event.

Unchecked mining in the forested hills causes floods during monsoon and water shortages during the dry season. Decrease in primary and secondary forest area is posing a question mark on the future of the Bengal tiger and in particular the Asian elephant in Nepal.

The 6th travelling edition of CMS VATAVARAN recently concluded with this movement reaching out to more than 15000 people during the months of October 2014- March 2015. This travelling festival cum forum was supported by number of local partners and ICICI Bank, Principal Partner for the 6^th travelling festival.

We travelled to different parts of India in the past few months - Puducherry, Agra, Amritsar, Gangtok, and Raipur - taking the best of films on environment and wildlife from filmmakers and organizations across the globe, to the people in these cities. Film Screenings and interesting discussions were attended by nature enthusiasts from different walks of life – conservationists, local communities, media professionals, students, government officials and NGOs. Special screenings were also organized for jail inmates, army cadets, police officers, book clubs and charitable institutions!

In a welcome addition, CMS VATAVARAN films were also screened at collaborative festivals such as the PSBT Open Frame Festival in New Delhi, Eco Cine Film Festival in Brazil, Dominican Republic Environment Film Festival, Dayittya Responsible Film Festival in West Bengal, Tinai Eco Film Festival in Goa, Weaver’s Nature and Wildlife Film Festival in West Bengal, and Rajpur Nature Film Festival in Uttarakhand.
