About IIT Bombay
IIT Bombay, set up by an Act of Parliament, was established in 1958, at Powai, a northern suburb of Mumbai. Today the Institute is recognised as one of the centres of academic excellence in the country. Over the years, there has been dynamic progress at IIT Bombay in all academic and research activities, and a parallel improvement in facilities and infrastructure, to keep it on par with the best institutions in the world. Institutes in positions of excellence grow with time. The ideas and ideals on which such institutes are built evolve and change with national aspirations, national perspectives, and trends world - wide. IIT Bombay, too, is one such institution.
About Centre for Environmental Science and Engineering (CESE), IIT Bombay-
CESE started working since 1977 and presently has 10 Core Faculty and about 20 Faculty collaborating from other Departments/ centers. Centre offers M.Tech. and PhD programmes in Environmental Science and Engineering. The major focus areas are: Aerosol and Air Quality; Water and Wastewater; Environmental Biotechnology; Solid and Hazardous Wastes; Modeling, Planning and Management; and Environmental Policy and Sustainable Development. Major teaching and research facilities are Air Monitoring Lab, Biogas Lab, Chemistry Lab, Computing Facility, GIS Lab for Environmental Management and Simulation, Instrumentation Lab, Microbiology Lab, and Post-Graduate Research Lab. Centre is very actively involved with continuing education programmes and runs many specialized training courses although the year for academicians, practicing engineers, decision makers, governmental officers, non governmental organizations etc. In addition to very active participation in national sponsored and consultancy projects, CESE has many ongoing international collaborations with USEPA, France, Germany, EU etc to name a few. Faculty members working at CESE have prolific publication records and they are serving on almost all major panels, committees and exam boards. They are also lending their technical expertise to industry and government alike. CESE is starting two new programmes: one on B.Tech.-M.Tech. dual degree programme since 2011 and another post B.Sc., MSc-PhD programme in Environmental Engineering and Management since 2010.

Unemployment in Environmental sector due to other fields (Biotech, chemistry, biology) student are encroaching their seats in jobs.
Garima, MTech course at CESE IITBombay is an interdisciplinary course. You can appear for GATE exam from your discipline and then apply to CESE with your GATE score.
