  • Grey water must be collected in a separate tank then treated & this treated water must be stored separately with an exclusive plumbing line to all toilet flushes & the same can also be used for gardening purpose. In Indian scenario its estimated that 45% of the water that we use is used for toilet purpose.

  • one problem with this design is that one can not flush using soapy water... soap (and detergent) is a poison for germs which live in the septic tanks and decompose the human refuse in these tanks. If this idea has to be useful, one would need to invent special cleansing soaps which do not kill the septic tank germs.....

  • one can make such an arrangement so that this tap system is located somewhere else on the toilet nd the used water is then stored back for the flush system for the Indian scenario its just a one way to minimize wastage of daily water consumption at least for upto certain extent .....

  • The thought is good...but needs variation knowing Indian habits.

  • A day may come when we have little fresh water left! What shall our coming generations do then? There are two factors involved in this:

    1. Our per capita "Water Footprint."  The quantity of water an average person consumes, directly and indirectly (the water used to produce food, clothes, housing, medicines and all other human needs).

    2. The World's ever growing Population!

    1. Multiplied by 2. is the total GLOBAL HUMAN WATER FOOTPRINT. This is growing exponentially, while the availability of fresh water is falling rapidly.

It is essential to take both factors very seriously and try and reduce each. It is a pity that many still think of our ever growing Population as an asset. A one child family norm is a sure shot way to apply brakes on Population growth. The Chinese know this well. When shall we Indians learn?

If we reduce Population, there will be lesser need to try and cut our per Capita water consumption. This is a painful task. Let us THINK and then ACT.

  • Idea is very good and innovative.  It needs further development/improvement.

Overflowing/flooding problem should be addressed. There should be built in

membrane filter before the water is used for flushing toilets.

  • Its gd but it wd be very difficult for Indians to accept. Further washing your hands after toilet means - you would be flushing bacterial water which wd'nt be a healthy practice & if you are gonna wash after a meal then this water too is not healthy. I don't know weather this hand washed water is directly getting stored in the cistern if so then this wd'nt be a healthy choice & if this water passes thru' filtration media & finally thru an UV then it will be better. Wd like to know what experts think. Stand to be corrected.

  • Really good...thanks

  • thats truly a very simple yet a very innovative way... nice one
