VIT is the first educational institution in India to get international accreditations for its programmes. The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), United Kingdom and the Energy Institute, United Kingdom have audited the Teaching-Learning Processes at VIT and accredited the respective programmes, in the year 2004, with the highest validity of 5 years.

To create a dynamic environment that facilitates interaction and dialogue has always been the goal of VIT. To augment the learning resources and promote interdisciplinary research, VIT has consolidated different departments into six Schools of Excellence. This helps synergistically in teaching and learning and enables faculty to specialise in particular streams of subjects in tune with their interests.
Admission
The University follows a transparent mechanism for its admission process. It administers its own entrance examination - VITEEE (VIT Engineering Entrance Examination) - at 58 cities across the country. Year after year VITEEE (pronounced as "WITTY") has been gaining in popularity and in the year 2008 more than 1,38,000 students from all over India applied to take part in VITEEE.
Quality Assurance
Programmes offered by each School are designed to incorporate a blend of knowledge, skills and the right attitude. The syllabus of each programme is revised periodically to enable students to be at par with the needs of the industry. The Continuous Assessment Test (CAT), conducted twice every semester, ensure quality of learning and allows for mid-course corrections. Term End Examinations (TEE) conducted at the end of the semester ensure integrity of learning.
