Color Code for Solid waste Containers

Hi Everyone,

Is there any specifications or color code for Solid waste collections containers for different types of waste.

For ex., plastics, food waste, glass, scrap metals, wood etc

  • Biodegradable goes into Green bin and Non- Biodegradable goes into Red bin.

  • There is no authorized or notified color code for Municipal Solid waste. There is only color code for Hospital waste.
    In general practice, peolple use color code as mentioned by Aditya.

    For Solid Waste there are predominantly two color coded bins that are being used

    Blue colored bin- for recyclables such as paper, plastics etc

    Green Colored bins- for biodegradable waste such as food, kitchen waste, green waste etc.

    There are many other examples where authorities have used other colors for coding the non-biodegradable part of the solid waste.
