MSW Cost Benefit analysis

HI friends,

I'm in need of cost benefit analysis (CBA) for Bio gas plant handling 30 tonnes/day waste.

are there any methods of making money from waste generated. like if we give waste generated from residential society, are there any agency to buy for their business??

please let me know.

worked example of detailed procedure for CBA will also be helpful.

    hello all.

    Thank you so much for the replies. sorry for replying late.

    My query was little vague as I have little experience in dealing SWM. 

    But I have a good knowledge of technologies involved in SW treatment.

    My intention of this query was to know how CBA is worked for bio-gas plant handling 30 tonnes/day wet waste.

    I have one more question, what are the wastes that can be put into bio-gas plant other than kitchen and garden waste from a community?? paper? cardboard?

    I guess you may be right, but still the query is vague, don't you agree?

    The CBA needs to involve the cost of land, cost of construction (which would depend on the design of construction), the proposed rate of consumption of bio-gas.

    first identity the all cost.npv and irr the common to make decision.try to check local agency to reduce maximum cost.....

    I agree with Sanjay. Could you pls be specific which waste you wish to generate Bio-gas from?

    I go by the assumption that you mean "wet waste" when you say waste.

    The cost of biologically produced manure varies from Rs. 3 to Rs 10 per kg (depending on methodology, maturity and organisms used).

    and 1 kg of manure would be generated from about 6 - 8 kg of wet waste. 

    So it would take about 6 kg of waste to give you Rs. 10/- (optimistically)

    Therefore, I would not want to transport this waste to another agency as it would cost a lot of freight.

    I would rather use it within the campus/premises.

    Many agencies that do produce bio-manure get their wet waste from community collection services that are organised and coordinated by the local municipal corporation. These are agencies that offer to treat the wet waste for free, and the municipal corporation is happy dumping the waste there as they do not have to treat it or carry it too far into sanitary landfills.

    These organizations make a break-even by treating the waste that they get for free, and selling bio manure. They would not buy it as it is abundantly available.

    Personally, I think its our responsibility to handle our own waste as much as possible.

    And If I assume you mean "dry waste", then there are a lot of agencies that collect these items to transport it to recyclers.

    They are generally categoriesed into the following:

     - 6 divisions of plastic (based on recycling code, usually printed/embossed on the material in the shape of a conspicuous triangle with a number)

     - various types of Paper (oil-free) 

     - shoes

     - tetrapak - (initiated by Tetrapak India)

     - metal recyclers.
