Trees cannot absorb sound there are studies proving that. If a large patch of trees or forest is there then noise is reduced due to the distance and not really due to the trees or leaf surface. I case of noise its the distance only which reduces the intensity.

Short and crisp lecture :)

Truly said that noise is the most obvious and most overlooked form of environmental pollution.
