Please refer Environmental Engineering and science book by Gilbert Masters and other book on Environmental Engineering by Keiley and most imp. source is "Standard handbook on Environmental Engineering" it has lots of diagrams and explanation about FGD.
i have prepared the same project with my students for college level exhibition and very good and critical comments were there however, ultimately we could able to bag prize. we had made a thermacol working model with two stacks for comparison and in one stack we used dhoop to generate fumes and in other stack we prepared an insertion for lime where sulphur will get trap. a good one, try yourself.
That is a difficult proposition. Do you want it for a college project ? Then it is simple, you let the gas flow through a pipe, let in fine spray of water at several places. in the pipe.
Of course, if you want to know how effective your device is, you need a whole lot of equipment, to measure amount of SOx and NOX before and after the treatment, and so on.

What exactly you are looking for?you need solid or liquid system.what process you have ie which gas and its composition?Pl specify?
