Lets make the earth day i.e 27th March by switching off the light from 8:30 to 9:30 voluntarily and join hands with the world for environmental protection
I have also switched off light for an hour. But is it is better if we switch off the electric appliances whenever it is not required and use the electricity judiciously. This is the responsibility of everyone and be done daily and not on specific event. Although, such events are really good in creating awareness about the noble cause.
I am ready for the "60 Earth Hour", as an IEN members we should be more responsible to spread the words to our friends, relatives, colleagues and others. Millions of people across the world are getting ready to eradicate the global warming to some extent which is one of the biggest problems of today through the Earth Hour 2010.
The goal of the Earth hour is to maintain a low carbon economy in addressing the problem of global warming and also prove that we have every possible chance to take the action against climate changes.
Cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Bangalore and Chennai will take part in this global event.
Earth hour has originally started in 2007 in Sydney alone where 2.2 million residents participated, following this the other countries and cities around the world has adopted the event in the year 2008 and finally, was spread to 4000 cities and towns across 88 countries in the year 2009 which is considered as the greatest voluntary event in the world that has happened ever.
Hopefully, this event will help to make "Everyday is Earth Day".
