One of the first real achievements of the new Minister of Forest & Environment is to create a brand new website that was inaugrated on Septemeber 29, 2009.
Check the website at http://moef.gov.in/
For professionals like me who have been checking their website for more than 20 years now, this is nothing but transformation. Although, they are nowhere near the WEB 2.0 website of your very own Indian Environment Network http://www.paryavaran.com , this is a great start.
Check their website today and then do take part in the poll in the MOEF Fan Club or on the front page of http://www.Paryavaran.com
Below is the press release.
LAUNCH OF NEW WEBSITE
New Delhi, 29th September 2009:
The Ministry of Environment and Forests is pleased to announce the inauguration
and launch of its new website. This is part of a continuous and ongoing process to
bring more transparency and citizen-friendliness into our functioning and to
becoming a more accountable and transparent ministry.
• The Website has been redesigned after a lengthy consultation process
involving a number of prominent civil society groups, key user groups and
other stakeholders. An effort has been made to take all their suggestions on
board in the development of the new website.
• The governing principle in this redesign has been to provide users with ready
access to relevant information while eliminating redundancies. To this end the
interface has been imbued with greater user friendliness and been made
simpler to navigate. The overall look and feel has also been changed to given
the viewer a richer and fuller experience.
• In an attempt to draw more visitors to the website, a number of progressive
features have been included such as videos, pictures and a blog by the
Minister.
• The website is simultaneously a platform for the Ministry to provide the world
with a window to its functioning and to receive feedback on its working. We
look forward to and welcome your coments and inputs on the same.
• The new website goes live from today and is available at http://moef.gov.in/
