Symposium on Challenges in Conserving Natural Heritage on October 30, 2009 CMS Environment and INTACH with the support of UNESCO are also conducting a Symposium on Challenges in Conserving Natural Heritage on October 30, 2009 from 10.30 am – 01.30 pm at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi . Natural heritage is our legacy from the past, what we live with today, and what we pass on to future generations. Natural heritage is both irreplaceable sources of life, livelihoods, food security, recreation and much more. The many challenges faced by natural heritage include pollution, ill-conceived or poorly planned economic development, increased impact of tourism, natural disasters, lack of management skills, lack of awareness, etc. The symposium is aimed at identifying the various challenges faced in the conservation of natural heritage in the country and to suggest ways to address these challenges. Dr S M Nair is planning and coordinating the programme. The seminar and symposium are being organised under the aegis of CMS VATAVARAN 2009 – 5th Competitive Environment and Wildlife Film Festival being held from 27-31 October 2009 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
