Enterprises in India are increasingly required to respond effectively to emerging Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety imperatives. There is also a growing realization that ensuring ‘Total Regulatory Compliance’ is an elementary pre-requisite to demonstrate sound business performance and upholding commitment to company valued stakeholders.

 

In India, the constitutional provisions related to environmental, health and safety have been given effect through a numerous complex EHS laws and regulations applicable to manufacturing facilities and building premises / commercial establishments. While responding to these EHS legislation, industry and business in India experience a great difficulty in understanding the complex legal provisions, institutional mechanism,  their role, responsibilities, rights and various procedural obligations including penalties for contravention(s). 

 

It is, therefore, an urgent and proven need to strengthen / aid the in-house techno-legal capabilities to establish, achieve and maintain regulatory compliance on continual basis and also enhance capacity to interact effectively with the enforcement agencies on legal issues.
