Forum leader receives threat

VISAKHAPATNAM: A former Union Secretary of Power E.A.S. Sarma, who is actively campaigning against threat to environment due to industriesand demanding that the Government respect the law of the land, allegedthat he received a letter threatening him to stop his activities.


Dr. Sarma, convenor of the Forum for Better Visakha, in a complaint sent to the Prime Minister, Chief Minister, Union Minister forEnvironment and Forests, Director-General of Police and other officersand Ministers concerned said that certain industrialists were behindthe letter and threatened him with his life. In the two-page letterwritten in Telugu, Dr. Sarma was criticised for coming in the way ofindustries being set up with an investment of thousands of crores ofrupees and was warned that he would not be spared.


All his activities have been recorded and the government was informed, the letter said and warned him against antagonizing themfurther.


He should stop his activities and enjoy his retired life than troubling them, the letter said.

Dr. Sarma asked the PM, CM and others to investigate and treat his letter as a complaint and register FIR.
