WWF-India, the country’s largest environmental conservation NGO with a national branch network is looking for individuals of exceptional ability and resourcefulness who are willing to contribute towards conservation of nature of the country. The incumbent will be designated as State Director-Tamil Nadu and will head the state office and will be responsible for interacting with the WWF-India’s programme staff, government, educational and scientific institutions, NGOs, the corporate world and the media.
The candidate should preferably have a Masters degree in a branch of Environmental Studies with 8-10 years experience. The candidate should have leadership skills and initiative, be able to shoulder responsibilities and have the ability to act independently. Knowledge of working in the NGO sector and issues related to conservation is essential. The candidate should have worked in a managerial position, including experience in team work, fund raising, marketing, administration, budgeting & funding and project proposal writing.
In addition, he/she should be able to undertakes the tasks related to State education programmes to develop and implement environment sensitization programmes and modules for key target groups, work with the State Offices of WWF-India in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of State Environment Education programmes as an ongoing process, mobilize resources and conduct regional level capacity building initiatives such as training, workshops, seminars, exposure and exchange programmes for Education Officers and other environmental educators in the southern region, as well as he/she should be able to promote linkages, collaborations, and partnerships with the state government, corporate sectors, NGOs and media for promoting Environment Education.
The incumbent will report to the Secretary General and Chief Executive Officer WWF-India and will be expected to take forward and implement WWF-India’s initiatives and ensure that the State Office is financially solvent. He/she will also function as the ex-officio Member-Secretary to the State Advisory Board. The position will be based at Chennai.
Remuneration will be competitive with Indian NGO pay scales and will depend upon candidate’s experience levels and the overall WWF-India salary structure. WWF-India does not provide housing, telephone or vehicle facilities.
