Srushti Mitra Awards

In order to promote environmental awareness and to recognize andacknowledge environmental action projects undertaken by students, EnvironmentDepartment, Government of Maharashtra and Centre for EnvironmentEducation invite entries for Srushti Mitra Awards in the followingcategories:
(a) Environment Projects (for students)
(b) Environment Photographs (open to all )
(c) Environment Slogans (open to all )
(d) Environment Bal Sahitya (open to all )
The most inspiring and creative entries in each category will be given a citation and honorarium.

(a) Environment Projects - by students of schools and colleges
Reports of and plans for action projects undertaken by the students of schoolsand colleges. Projects may be already completed, currently ongoing orplanned. These should address environmental issues, andpreference will be given to those projects that have social andeconomic benefits as well. Examples include environmental conservationor restoration work, energy/ water / biodiversity conservation, wastemanagement, improving traffic management and safe access to the schoolby students, encouraging non-motorized transport, participating inlocal level civic issues, water and sanitation improvement, etc.Entries are invited in two categories:
Category 1: Up to Std X
Category 2: Std XI and XII, Junior and Senior College
Submission should be done in a file containing description of the projectexperience or plan in Marathi or English, in the following format:
• Title of Project
• Location of project (village/ town, district)
• Full contact details of students submitting entries (address, phone, email)
• When the project was initiated or planned to start
• Environmental and social problem addressed (upto 150 words)
• Methodology (400 words, 2 to 3 photos)
• Achievements and benefits (200 words, 2 to 3 photos)
• Which people get direct benefit, and how many
• Photographs of completed and ongoing project showing benefits (2 to 4)
• Future plans (200 words)
(b) Environment Photographs
These may depict nature, environmentally good practices that should bepromoted, environmentally harmful practices that should be changed orstopped, etc. Format for submission:
• Title of the photo and date when it was taken
• Short text description (max 100 words)
• Print size - 8 inches by 11 inches, matt finish
• Digital JPEG format, size - 7 megapixel resolution, in CD
(c ) Environment Slogans
Slogans in Marathi or English upto 20 words on any environmental issue,including on nature, promoting conservation, socially andenvironmentally sound development practices, enhancing awareness aboutdo’s and don’ts, etc.
(d) Environment Bal Sahitya
Entries may be stories, poem, cartoon strip, article series etc on environment,in Marathi or English. If required sub-categories will be made forevaluating entries. Entries invited in 2 categories
1. Bal Sahitya Junior (by children upto 16 years)
2. Bal Sahitya Senior (by adults writing for children)
Notes for Submission of Entries
Persons submitting entries must give their complete name, age, postal address, phone/ fax/ mobile no. and email ID.
Entries should be submitted in CD and by email.
Those who can not submit entries in soft copy can submit typed or neatly written hard copy.
If required sub-categories will be made for evaluating the entries and the honorarium will be reallocated.
All entries should carry a signed declaration by the person submittingstating that the submitted work is their own original work.
Other information
Material submitted will not be returned.
Environment Dept will be free to use any of the entries submitted to createeducational material for environmental awareness. The originators ofthe entries will be acknowledged.
Employees and direct relatives of employees of Environ-ment Dept of Govt ofMaharashtra, Maharashtra Pollution Control Board and Centre forEnvironment Education are not allowed to submit entries.
Last date for receipt of entries: 30th September 2010
