The Wildlife Institute of India (WII) is a premier national autonomous Institute of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoE&F), Government of India in the field of teaching, training and research. The WII wishes to engage 03–Project Assistants through a Walk-in-Interview to be held on Monday, 7th September 2009. The details of the positions along with essential and desirable qualifications, terms and conditions and how to apply are given below. DETAILS OF PROJECT and POSITION Project Title, details of position and duration Management Planning for Okhla Bird Sanctuary. Duration: One year (03 – Project Assistants) Essential Qualification Masters degree in Wildlife Sciences/ Environmental Sciences/ Zoology/ Botany/ Agricultural Sciences/ Life Sciences/ Forestry with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognized University. Desirable Qualification Research experience on subject related to ecological survey of rivers and wetlands with special reference to water birds and other aquatic species. Research experience on subject related to inventorying of Protected Areas/wetlands and socioeconomic surveys. Experience of application of remote sensing and GIS in natural resource management. Proficiency in using computers and good writing skill in English language. Description of Work Prepare an inventory of the floral and faunal resources of the Okhla Bird Sanctuary. Quantify the resource dependency and assess the influence of various stakeholders on the Sanctuary. Identify factors affecting the integrity of the Sanctuary. Assist in the preparation of an integrated wetland management Plan for the Okhla Bird Sanctuary. GENERAL: The age of the candidate shall not be more than 28 years as on 1st September 2009. Upper age limit for may be relaxed up to 5 years, as in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/Women and physically handicapped categories. Selected candidate will be paid consolidated emoluments of Rs. 12,000/- per month, respectively. Project Assistants may be allowed hostel accommodation at the Institute, as per availability. In case hostel accommodation is not possible, house rent allowance (HRA) will be paid as per the rules of the Institute. Engagement on the above positions will be purely on a temporary basis initially and may be extended for further period(s) depending upon the requirement and the tenure of project. The selection of the candidates will be based on Walk-in-Interview to be held on Monday, 7th September 2009 at the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun. Canvassing in any form is liable to rejection of the candidature. The `Walk in Interview’ will be conducted on 7th September 2009 and the registration of candidates will begin at 0930 hrs. Candidates should bring the duly filled-in applications with attested true copies of testimonials of educational qualifications, research experience, extra curricular activities, date of birth etc., along with copies of mark sheets of all examinations. All original documents should be produced at the time of registration. Applications without enclosures and/or incomplete in any respect shall be liable to rejection. Two way travel expenses will be paid to the candidates, selected for the project. The expense will be limited to actual 2nd class rail/bus fare by the shortest route from his/her place of stay/residence.
