The Programme Officer shall be responsible for supporting the Regional Programme Team for efficient coordination of the Programme across five countries. The Regional Programme team has been working towards the conservation and management of High Altitude Wetlands in Himalayas in India (Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh) as well as the region (Nepal, Bhutan, Pakistan and China) over the last few years. This entails engagement with multiple stakeholders including local communities, government agencies, the Army, and civil society organisations to develop and implement strategies to balance biodiversity conservation goals with those of sustainable livelihoods while integrating the ecological, social and cultural values of these fragile areas. Job Responsibilities and Objectives involve: Coordinating and supporting the India project field teams in 4 states viz. J&K, Himachal, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh Working in close collaboration with Head, Regional programme and other team members for achieving the outputs under the Regional programme Networking with field team members in WWF-India and other countries to obtain information Organizing meetings/ workshops to be held under the Regional programme Preparing Technical progress reports in specified formats Liaising with the Finance Division at WWF-India Secretariat for preparation of various project specific financial reports Working with the Head, Regional Programme in preparing the project proposals for fundraising as also looking for fundraising opportunities for the programme Assisting the Communications Manager in various activities under the project Prerequisites for the position include: At least a Masters degree in any of the following subjects: Ecology/Environment/Natural Resource Management/ any other related discipline; At least two years’ of, post M.Sc. experience in the relevant area; Knowledge of basic project management skills; Good writing and communication, both written and oral; Good working knowledge of the computer. Other Desired Skills: Good understanding and familiarity to work on NRM issues with focus on wetlands. Energetic, proactive and capable of working positively in a team; Fluency in English is essential. The position is based at WWF-India Secretariat, New Delhi. Remuneration will be competitive with Indian NGO pay scales and will depend upon candidate’s experience levels and the overall WWF-India salary structure. WWF-India does not provide housing, telephone or vehicle facilities.
