The Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM) is a department atKarolinska Institutet and an interdisciplinary research institutionwithin the broad field of environmental medicine. IMM conducts cuttingedge research within the areas of environmental and occupationalmedicine, epidemiology, physiology, and toxicology. IMM also serves as ascientific advisor to public authorities within the area ofenvironmental medicine and IMM scientists participate in national andinternational expert groups that conduct risk assessments or developguidelines. IMM now aims to strengthen the science-based risk assessmentactivities in the department through the recruitment of a Post DoctoralResearch Fellow, with placement at one of the 15 units in thedepartment (for more information: ki.se/IMM).

The Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM) has an opening for a Post Doctoral ResearchFellow position (forskarassistent) to be placed within any of IMM’sresearch units. The successful candidate is expected to conduct highquality research with a clear relevance to environmental health riskassessment. The research will be done within the framework of the unitwhere the position is being placed although collaboration across unitsand multidisciplinary work are encouraged. A wide range of environmentalfactors of human health concern are addressed by researchers at IMM;see ki.se/IMM. However, other areas of relevance to environmentalmedicine and risk assessment are also possible.

Qualifications
To qualify, the applicant must hold a doctor’s degree or a foreignqualification deemed equivalent to a doctorate. Applicants who havecompleted their degree no more than five years before the last date forapplications should be given priority. Candidates who have completedtheir degree earlier than this should receive equal priority if specialgrounds exist. Special grounds include leave of absence because ofsickness, service in the total defence, positions of trust in tradeunion organisations and student organisations, parental leave and othersimilar circumstances. A total of two years can be added for the abovereasons on presentation of written testimony.

A person who has been employed as an Postdoctoral Research Fellow for more than a totalof three years may not be given other employment as PostdoctoralReserach Fellow within the same or a similar subject area at the same orany other institution of higher education.

The term of employment as Postdoctoral Reserach Fellow at KI is fixed at KI to two + twoyears, subject to evaluation after the first two years.
