A Three Day Training Course
on
‘Application of Geospatial Technologies in Sustainable Natural Resources Management’
(1st to 3rd February, 2017)
A Three Day Training Course on ‘Application of Geospatial Technologies in Sustainable Natural Resources Management’ is going to be organized by Water Institute-a Centre of Excellence, Department of Civil Engineering, Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Centre for Extension Activities from 01.02.2017-03.02.2017.
The course topics are:
- Introduction to Remote Sensing: Components, Understanding image, geo referencing, Mosaicking, subsetting satellite image, filters, image classification, change detection and terrain analysis
- Introduction to GIS and GPS: Concepts and components, projection, georeferencing, image registration, digitization, map preparation, spatial and non-spatial data analysis, database management, GPS
- Demonstration/Practical Classes on open source GIS and image processing software
- Application of GIS,GPS and Remote Sensing for Coastal Zone Management, rainfall-run off modeling, groundwater resources management, landuse and landcover changes, agricultural resources management, Natural Resources Information system
Resources Persons:
Experts from National Institute of Technology, Anna University, Government organizations, research organization and reputed consultancy firms will DELIVER the lectures. Demonstration classes will be handled by trained professionals.
Who can apply?
The NRDMS (DST) Training course is open for academicians (Faculty and Teachers – social sciences, physical sciences and engineering sciencesworking in recognized universities, colleges and institutes, scientists, research scholars, government officials and stake holders working in the area of application of GIS and Remote Sensing .
Travel
The participants will be paid to and fro travel fare by sleeper class train fare and normal bus fare. The original receipts/tickets from the place of work/study to the training course location and back by the shortest route are to be submitted by the participants (within India only).
Boarding and Lodging
For the out-station participants, accommodation on twin shared basis will be provided in the university guest house.
Course Fee:
There is no course fee. Registration is on first-come first get basis subject to the eligibility criteria. The total number of seats in the training course is 30 (Thirty) only.
The completed application (either by email or hard copy) in the format as given below should reach to given contact address (Course Co-ordinator) on or before 15th January 2017. List of selected candidates will be communicated to the participants by 17th January 2017.
