NGO PAST & PRESENT

Who is NGO ……….?

 

Persons wearing kadi kurta with a cloth bag……….… or

Persons going around finding faults in other and encashing ………or

 

Persons who fights for real cause & solves the problem……………? [LIKE IN PAST]

 

In present India; is new emerging & highest profitable self employment scheme is NGO????????

 

History says NGO means……..

 

A private organizations that pursue activities to relieve suffering, promote the interests of the poor, protect the environment, provide basic social services, or undertake community development

 

But, today 

 

Are most of the NGO organisations working for minting money by obstructing development? making laymen as their weapons...................................................

    NGOs of the day are more organized under various sectorian motives. High fly NGOs are supported by international agencies. WB and ADB insist on getting NGOs involved in mega projects. Some of the NGOs buy prime land for the promoters' benefits.

    Also some NGOs go for PIL at the behest of project proponents and buy defeat, so that true suffers cannot approach the court.

    This will be evident if collect a list of NGOs who have received over a million Rupees in year. They may appear with different attires to confuse poor people.

    THIS IS NOT APPLICABLE TUE HONEST, HUMBLE AND PRE-1947 PEOPLE AND THEIR NGOS

    Dear raghagaru, i agree with you.but ton this failure of nGos system we all are equally responsible. some one want to say something but he does not having platform and more over there is no value for common mans voice. if are good rich  or having some support from the adminstrial hierarchy then only. that too in favour of some one.

    our system is fully corrupted with corruption,we should eradicate this disease from every corner of our society.

    some ngos are are doing well but we cant reach them.

    Having worked very closely with both the civil society sector and the industry, I can safely say that selfless pursuit of doing the right things for society is a trait  not everybody gets easily although we all aspire to  reach there. Having said that, the NGO sector has its fair share of good and bad, efficient and inefficiently driven organisations ... including several which are driven purely by materialistic attitudes rather than a socially driven agenda. Obviously, the kurta with cloth bag culture NGO should not necessarily be the benchmark. There are several such NGOs whom I can cite which have done excellent path breaking analytical work on  issues of development and environment and concerning the future growth of the Indian economy so I guess it all  boils down to who really is in control and what kind of direction and leadership is out there.

    actually all development works government departments are to carry out. they have funds, great schemes, manpower, infrastructure, etc. if government through all these could have delivered, role of NGOs could have been minimum. in view of this I feel NGOs are bye products of inefficiency of government functioning due to whatsoever reason. wherever they are functioning well, NGO do not exist or have little role.

    Dear All,

     

    Sorry if i have hurted any one's feelings or those great personalities who are really working for a noble cause. But i would like to add this because now-a-days it is becoming a cause of concern. I do accept that there are many NGO working selflessly but definetely this has become a source of income. My only concern is that an NGO should not work against the things but work for the noble things in a righteous way.

    I am neither in favor nor against the statement made above based on my association with several NGOs - from local to international. I had seen many grassroot NGOs working on ground reality - truly said by Dr Ghosh about Baba Amte who really cares. On the other hand I have examples where I found the other side of coin..... as stated by Raghava... It is due to these NGOs, this sector is considered as profitable and money making business.

    Further, why we look for small NGOs..........? What about the big guns, who are heavily funded...... are they really working for the cause........? I am sorry to say but bitter experience in my life.

    Yes I fully agree with you. In the name of NGO's people are getting benifits for themselves. NGO's pay good salries for their staff who are capable of raising funds and showing one project to several agencies. ofcourse there are few who also do work at the same time. NGO's are trying to do work which the lected givernments are supposed to do and aspire for getting awards and recognition for such work. If an NGO woth out taking money from others educate people to fight for their rights and get work done from the government for which they elect them, then they will be doing yomen service to this world.

    Whether NGO or any sector...if there are lack of honesty it will lead to corruption...why blame NGO when corporate sector creating black money and transferring it to Swiss Bank...or politicians minting money by exploiting situation...there are good NGO's working honestly...the note above by generalizing NGO's as corrupt insulting people like Baba Amte or persons like those greats...the note itself is too bad needs correction...
