The rapid decline of the forest cover in India is due to diversions of non-forestry programmes had led to a decrease in production of MAPs & other NWFP’s. The demand of MAPs is increasing throughout the globe. This will definitely create a great gap between demand and supply in near future, therefore, it becomes imperative to take necessary steps to manage scientifically improvement and increase the production of MAPs. In order to exploit its export potential, the quality of MAPs has to be improved for their efficiency in health care. It is well known that MAPs are giving good return, but no result oriented efforts have been made on cultivation, harvesting, and storage of MAPs till last few years. This information has a great bearing on the policy matters both at the national and regional levels. The MAPs market is growing at a phenomenal rate of 7.0% per annum ; the natural reservoirs of MAPs are not being replenished as no target oriented strategies are sight; some leading State will not be able to do justice to its ‘Self Christianization’ as Herbal State , if the present state of affairs is to continue . Survey and estimation of its Natural assets, their abundance, scarcity, absence or presence are the primary task for the state. Analysis present harvesting/ collection of MAPS their prospects and conservation, need for improvement and areas of improvement and are needed to be developed; visualizing the local national and international demands and ever shrinking areas of Maps production. Therefore, new research should be to ensure an increment in good quality crude drug, resulting into greater trade volume through both good manage cultivated area and sustainably collected wild sources
