The Actions Team develops and coordinates non-violent direct actions in support of Greenpeace campaigns. Action Campaigners work with issue campaigns to identify strategic moments and creative ideas for actions and other forms of direct communication. They play a critical role in imagining, then deploying, the kind of creative events that keep Greenpeace a dynamic, effective, and vital organization.
The Action and Research Department
The Action and Research Department is made of 7 person. Managed by you, the 6 young and skilled employees of the Action and Research unit includes - One Campaigner (Warehouse), One Warehouse assistant, Four actions campaigners.
The Post
The post is responsible for developing ‘actions' strategy for Greenpeace India campaign projects. The action manager will also train and develop each of the unit members in various area of action expertise such as boat driving, climbing, research, electronics, welding and so on.
The post is responsible for legal risk analysis, budget management, trainings, evaluation & reporting and networking with the activists' community.
Reporting to the Campaigns Director, the manager will take the lead in building a strong ‘Actions' culture within Greenpeace India and develop its presence in the country to mobilize and engage supporters to support Greenpeace's campaigns.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for someone who strongly believes in the power of non-violent direct action to create social change. He/she has a creative mind to develop a range of Non Violent Direct Actions and strategically use them to ensure the success of Greenpeace campaigns.
Within the coming years, we will focus on developing an activist's network. The post holder needs to be personally involved in the recruitment and trainings of our activists and be able to identify appropriate people to join our team.
The post-holder should demonstrate strong capacity to handle high level of stress and very tight deadlines. He/she should have experience in managing logistics for projects.
The Actions Manager should be an effective team leader, ideally with some project management experience. He/she must have excellent interpersonal skills to work comfortably in a multi-department setting.
He/she should be willing to travel away from home whenever it is required, within India or abroad.

Working conditions
This role entails considerable travel around the country for necessary campaign work. The pace of work is often hectic and whilst every effort is made to maintain reasonable office hours the candidates should be willing to work unsocial hours as required.
