Background:
Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) is looking for a Field Officer/Assistant Field Officer for its projects in Vidharbha, Maharashtra. The post requires extensive travelling.
Job Responsibilities:
- Point person for the specific field and on-site implementation of the project.
- Execute eco-development and alternative livelihood initiatives.
- Scientific monitoring of the initiative.
- Network with local NGOs, relevant Government Departments.
- Report writing, day to day documentation.
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge and experience in participatory conservation, eco-development and alternative livelihood.
- Good understanding of community dynamics and ability to think fast.
- Experience in conducting PRA and in preparing micro-plans will be an advantage.
- Good at carrying out surveys, organizing group meetings and documentation.
- Excellent communication skills, specially with rural/tribal communities.
- Fluency in Marathi.
Qualifications:
A post-graduate degree in a social science discipline such as anthropology, sociology, social work, rural management, political science, human geography or equivalent.
Exposure to current debates in wildlife conservation will be an advantage.
Experience:
2-3 years experience in similar position, preferably in Maharashtra.
