TFT is launching its office in India in 2010

TFT has opportunities to expand its presence in India to support sustainable forest management and FSC certification, and to link forest products into the international market for certified and responsibly produced products.

 

Two positions are consequently opening:

TFT Forest Officer for India Program

The TFT Forester will be responsible for the implementation of the forest management activities under the direction of the TFT India Program Manager and through guidance from the Field Support Team in Europe. The specific tasks will include:

1. Identifying appropriate forest management operations that can link to TFT members needs.
2. Helping develop a forestry program through outreach and recruitment of forestry operations.
3. Helping promote and develop support for TFT's India programme.
4. Providing forest management support to forestry operations that supply into TFT member companies with emphasis in providing assistance on social and environmental issues.
5. Conducting gap assessments to assess forest management needs.
6. Developing Certification Action Plans for forest management operations.
7. Working closely with forest management operations, communities, farmers, and government agencies to implement actions that lead to FSC certification.

In addition to working in the field to support forest management operations, the Forest Officer will be responsible for the writing of reports to provide feedback and promoting TFT with stakeholders. The Forest Officer will also undertake general administrative tasks as and when required.

Starting date: 17 May 2010
Duration: 2 years, with possible extension
Salary and benefits: to be agreed but based on experience

TFT Wood Control System Officer for India Program

The TFT WCS Officer will be responsible for visiting and auditing TFT member factories and implementing wood control systems. This will be under the direction of the TFT WCS Program Team Leader and through guidance from the Field Support Team in Europe. The specific tasks will include:

1. Monitoring TFT Member orders which will use the TFT logo and/or Truth Statement.
2. Assisting factories to develop CoC documentation systems, this needs to be carried out for all processes from the incoming raw material stage up to the product delivery stage.
3. Verifying the original source of logs, and if the products in the factory can be traced back to the forest. This information will be used to determine whether the TFT trademark can be used on TFT member products. This will be done by means of Chain of Custody (CoC) documentation auditing in factory.
4. Carrying out log checks. This is done to compare the physical identification of each log with legal transport documentation that accompanies the logs from the forest.
5. In-process monitoring when the product is mid production.
6. Making factory audit reports for each activity. In the factory of each visit that will be signed by TFT auditor & factory representative.
7. General administrative tasks as and when required.
