Hi everyone!

Thanks to the sincere efforts of Shri Chandra Kishoreji, our website has become a nice hub for intellectuals, professionals and students in the environmental field.

I am so happy to see the network growing, new members adding information, good things happening all around!

How do you like the profiles, features, look and feel, interactivity of the website?

Are there members with web skills who would like to add more quality to the site? What do you think can be improved in the sections we have now?

How do you like the discussions? I see a lot of people working on blogs, and the replies seem to be good too! What else can be done to make sure our environmental field emerges as a group, and not just individuals? Isn't it time to make our presence felt across India, what with Minister Ramesh already having made waves.. :)

Please share your positive, constructive input.. We should really do something to make Paryavaran.com increase its impact on the nation, and our world..

Have a great weekend!

Vinodh

    Vinodh/ Satya/ Dr. Sudhanshu,

Thanks for the feedback. Atleast, I know that I have 3 solid teammates to take Paryavaran.com forward... and the backing of 2000 members!

The key to the growth of this network will be how well we can provide value added services to our young professionals and also make it relevant to environment organizations, helping them in their growth.

The key is to develop a plan to self- sustain the efforts monetarily by using the services of few deidicated professionals who can manage a team of interns and volunteers to enrich the content.   One day we can have a offline complimentary chapters in every corner of India where a young environment professional or a start-up company can just walk-in and plug in to a community of partners instantly via "Indian Environment Network".

So, again let's brainstorm and ask ourselves, what key services we can provide that the members, both individual and institutional are ready to pay through their wallet. That will be the most relevant services.

I was thinking about doing a "International Meet" every year at a environmentally relevant site in India where our professionals can meet together for a week of training to hone their skills and network in different environmental areas.  Satya and I were talking about taking " National and International Students and professionals " on learning Leadership tours to environmentally relevant villages in India and help them understand local issues and learn to solve real world problems.

For online engagement, it would help if organizations and individuals could donate atleast one of their work processes or training modules or case studies or methodoligies on how they are implementing any particular task in the environmental field. That can become a open resource for our premium members.

Organizations can also help by providing deep discounts to our members on one of their products and serivces that they provide in the environmental field. Our members can then not only test them but enrich their product by providing critical feedback.

A career center for young students with a comprehensive database of all the relevant companies that they could apply to is the need of the hour. We don't even yet have a comprehensive online database of all the educational institutions that are now in India peddling new courses that may or may not be required by the current crop of environmental companies in India. We can act as a great recruitment center and also nudge the students to study and acquire the right skills.

We started the Listing section - IndianEcoMarket so that companies can list all their products and services in the environment field and engage in showcasing their expertize. Hope they can utilize it.

Best of all, we started our institutional partnership option where organizations can have their own dedicated group within IEN and directly make it their center of engagement with their clients, customers, peers, friends and well- wishers to immediatley network with members from 1000+ organizations. I love how Dr. Sudhanshu has used it to showcase his consultancy company.

So, would be gald if you all can share ideas to make IEN relevant and self- sutainable so that it can virally grow to make a difference for every member of Indian Environment Network.

  • I particularly like the newshare feature, discussions and blog posts. Job postings on the site are also hinting on how India is gearing up for a greener future.

@Dr. Mehra, thank you for the feedback! I agree, we have to include people who are 'offline'. However, with a growing member base, it is good to make sure the sites features cater to the members needs, and go well with their expectations.

I'm not exactly sure where this discussion will lead to, but hoping that the network continues to build the camaraderie and fellowship, which I personally experience here on paryavaran.com.. :)

It’s great effort of Mr Chandra and good to see the network growing. I admire the website for the opportunities and volume of information available; which is excellent, but sometime I feel there is too much information on the home page! I also feel it would be great to have some basic protocols for the members to maintain the forum in more productive way.

If required, I will be quite happy to volunteer after June 2011 as I am taking a break from active professional life for one of my research project in India.

  • Hi Vinod,

I do fell the same. I came in contact with CK in 2003, sincs then I am part of the NIEP. This platform has given a great advantage to the professionals, scholars and of caus nature lovers.

In my view, we should not kame feel our presence to Ministers....... Let the Ministers feel the presence of this site worth.

I further suggest that the group should start showing its presence on the ground level too... The move should be made to form regional groups and conservation/ environmental works should be started by the members at their level under the banner of the group. So my view is to make the presence of this group into the grass root level workers then only we will get real success.... Let the mass without access of net should be part of our team......

    With Kind Regards and Wishes

    Dr Satya Prakash Mehra
