Help for New Innovative Project Work.

Hello Friends,

Myself Saurabh Kale. I am a MTech (Environmental Engineering) student from MIT, Manipal.

Its a kind request to all to suggest me any new innovative subject or topic for MTech project work in the fields of Environmental Management like Water and Wastewater Treatment, Air Pollution Control or Environmental Management System(EMS)

    Dear Saurabh,

     Do some experiment on UASB system for the decentralized black water treatment in big business houses, academic institution etc. This will be beneficial for the policy maker in black water management.

    Dear Saurabh,

    Lot many good suggestions are poured in by fellow members. Each area mentioned here has great potential.

    For waste management you can log into any sweden university/institute as they are best in waste management with only around 5% going to landfill. Even you can think of directly converting waste to energy through fuel cells with help of algae rather than converting it into methane which escapes to environment.

    For wastewater you can try advanced electro oxidation, which avoids biological processes and direct converstion of organic matter in CO2 and H2O.

    But what ever you do keep in mind that it may have applications in future . This will help you to become a core environmentlist

    Thank you to all for your suggestions for my project work... will definitely review the literature about these topics and will discuss it with my guides. Please also suggest me something for Environmental Management Systems (EMS) field and deeply some ideas about the wealth from waste...

    Hi Saurabh,

    Think of wealth from waste.

    My suggestion is-Study the dynamics of collection, conversion and management of urban wastes for sustainable agriculture.

    If you really want to work on Environmental Management, then work on Renewable Energy like Solar, Wind or Biomass.

    The best one is Renewable Energy from Biomass......

    You can explore a lot in this field and really contribute for sustainable development.........

    Pls check the following: -

    1. Application of DEWATS to improve santation in Rural areas and slums in developing countries.

    2. Preventive measures - not to use Storm Drains for disposal of sewage in India.

    3. Imporance and economical ways of se-siltation of water bodies to prevent floods.

    4. Encourage conservation of water and water bodies in rural areas by water recycling and Rainwater Harvesting without affecting land for agriculture.

    4. Recycling of construction waste to prevent qaurring in hills & mountains to maintain ground water.

    If you are really looking for an innovative and challenging Environmental Project for your Masters....

    Develop Environmental Indices (Air, Water, Soil, & Noise) of a city. Compare the environmental indices of Commercial, Residential, & Industrial zones of the city.

    Wealth from waste, as suggested by Mr. Gopi Kanth Ghosh, is also an innovative and new idea that is being discussed lately.
