The Department embraces a range of interests, supporting research in the areas of environmental planning and policy as well as work with a spatial perspective on demographic, economic, social and cultural conditions. An applicant who shows proficiency in several of the Department’s thematic areas may be considered for a longer-term position.The research areas for the four positions are:1. EU Forest Policy, including a study of the possibilities for the forest industry to influence policy in Brussels; ref.nr 315-242-11 (postdoc) or 316-246-11 (research assistant)2. Policy conflicts surrounding biodiversity, including policy analysis on the EU and Swedish levels; ref.nr 315-245-11 (postdoc) or 316-247-11 (research assistant)3. Crisis response and preparedness for disturbances to forest and municipal systems (adaptation to flooding, storm events and forest pest risks), including text analysis and local case studies in Sweden; ref.nr 315-250-11 (postdoc) or 316-251-11 (research assistant)Candidates for postdoc positions must have the following qualifications:- PhD in Political Science or a related subject, preferably with a focus on environmental social science, in particular, environmental policy research. Candidates may not have more than three years postdoctoral experience prior to the application date.Candidates for research assistant positions must have the following qualifications:- M.A. in Political Science or a related subject, preferably with a focus on environmental social science and, in particular, environmental policy research.Both the postdoc and the research assistant positions require the following:- Demonstrated experience of qualitative research in the social sciences, in particular qualitative interviews, coding, and text analysis- Positions 1 and 2 require a demonstrated knowledge of the EU policy system.- Positions 2-4 require proficiency in Scandinavian languages (preferably Swedish) sufficient to enable the holder to conduct qualitative interview-based research in Sweden. Position 1 is open to applicants proficient in English as a working language, with no additional language requirements.- Experience of forest policy research, in particular previous knowledge in the target study areas, as well as familiarity with literature on adaptation to climate change, is beneficial.The details of the appointments will be determined in consultation with the successful applicants.
