Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) is looking for a Field Officer to groundtruth and monitor identified elephant corridors in Uttarakhand.
Job Responsibilities:
Field work for groundtruthing (current status of the corridor habitat and its utilisation by animal, land ownership, artefacts and threats to the corridor) and demarcation of identified elephant corridors in Uttarakhand, and their monitoring.
Preparing securement plan for individual corridors
Other conservation action related work in project site
Working closely with concerned Forest Department staff, local villagers and other government agencies
Data analysis and report writing.
Skills:
In-depth understanding of wildlife/conservation issues, especially elephant ecology and behaviour
Knowledge of groundtruthing/survey of large mammals' habitat, especially elephants
Knowledge of vegetation sampling and basic statistics
GIS skill is preferred
Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and Powerpoint
Qualifications:
Post Graduate in Wildlife Biology/Zoology/Environmental sciences/Life sciences. Candidates with other qualifications can also apply, given the above skills.
Experience:
1-3 years experience in the above mentioned profile.
