The person shall be a masters or doctorate in Ecology and shall have at least 6-10 years work experience in environment management / ecological conservation in an industry or consultancy or research institute.
He should have thorough knowledge on marine ecological aspects, mangroves, coral management. Experience in any port related activity would be an asset. I have done my Master of Environment Science, with specialization in Nature Conservation and Environment Education from Bharti Vidyapeeth Institute of Environment Education and Research (Pune , India ). Presently I am doing my Ph.D. on "Impact of Anthropogenic activities on Mangrove Ecosystem of southern coast of Gujarat" under the guidance of Dr. K.D.Vachrajani, Department of Zoology, Science Faculty, M.S.University of Baroda.
I have about 3 year’s professional experience of working in Non-Governmental Organizations in India. I started my professional career with Nature Education and Environment Development School (NEEDS) where I was involved in designing nature education material for school children and also worked on biodiversity survey, which included Avian and Reptilian diversity along with some rehabilitation work for them.
Further, I joined Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) as a Project Officer, where I worked on Mollusc Survey Project funded by Ministry of Environment and Forest. During my tenure with BNHS I conducted Mollusc population and diversity survey as well as the other associate species in the coastal areas of Gujarat, India. During this work with BNHS I got trained as an ecologist. On my second tenure with BNHS as Education Officer in Project Mangrove, I covered some 11,000 students for our education programs. Further I have also carried out detailed socio-economic survey of the Mahi and Dhadhar River esuries to know dependency of local stake holders on the Mangrove. I was also involved in the EIA work for the TATA Power at Mundra.
I am a resident of Gujarat and working in the field of Marine Biodiversity research since last 5 years in the Gulf of Kachchh. My special interest is in Marine Biodiversity Conservation and I am also pursuing my doctorate degree in the field of coral reef habitat assessment from M.S. University - Vadodara. I have also worked for Coral reef Health Indicators project in collaboration with Space Application Centre - Ahamedabad, which has given me an excellent opportunity to gain the knowledge of Remote Sensing. I have also worked on various other projects on coral reefs, Mangroves, Birds in the Gulf of Kutch and other parts of Gujarat. Comprehensive knowledge of English, Hindi and Gujarati language has helped me in enriching my communication skills. Currently I am working with Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) one of the prime organisation working in the field of biodiversity conservation, as a Research Scientist. I am handling the field office of Gujarat chapter and involved in several Marine Biodiversity related projects.
