As we progress we continue to ignore our traditional wisdom often for our own peril. It is particularly true in respect of medicinal plants. But we forget that modern science grew on the foundation of these values. I am attaching an article written by me on Ipecac a plant used by Khashi tribe of Meghalaya which gives solution to amaoebic dysentery and modern day medicine was derived from this. Let us find more.

It is important that such grass root wisdom be documented
our ancient tradation respect the nature in a great way.we should also learn and implement such ancient methods for the sake of sacred trees and for the mailtenance of biodiversity.
We must try to document wherever we are...that will be our service to man kind
Dear Sir,
The information is valuable. As you said, we have forgotten our ancient roots. It is high time we revive our ancient wisdom on locally available medicinal plants, sacred trees etc.
