With great pleasure we inform you that the Dept of Geology, University of Kerala, Trivandrum, is organizing the Disaster, Risk and Vulnerability Conference 2017 (DRVC 2017) from 29 -- 31 March 2017. The conference is in continuation of the hugely successful DRVC March 2011 and DRVC April 2014. 

The conference is planned to enrich the research and development in disaster management with practical experience collated with professionalism. Discussions on disaster management, risk and vulnerability reduction can lead to increased awareness of disasters and its various hues, strategies for resiliency and newer technologies for disaster management. We intend to organize the conference in such a way that it would include key note addresses, paper and poster presentations, and focused thematic lectures during in these days. The occasion would be a premier event for disaster management professionals, scholars and students offering unique educational and operational knowledge sharing within the broad spectrum of disaster management. It will provide an opportunity to gain valuable education, training and best practices to assist you and the community to mitigate, prepare for, respond to and recover from emergencies and disasters. Natural and manmade disasters, DM and public administration, disaster response and emergency management, various technological applications, community Participation in risk reduction, capacity development initiatives are the major cross cutting themes of the event. There is a half day field trip arranged to the famous Varkala cliff on 31st March 2017.
