Dear Friends,

I need to know whether there re any specific guidelines to dispose rockwool (insulation waste)? If not, what are the best practices followed throughout the industry?

Similarly, what about refractory waste from furnaces? How to dispose it?

Thanks,

Krishna

  • The company Rockwool in the Netherlands, claims they can 100% recycle their insulation products. That sounds over the top, but I know they have been working on improving their environmental performance for years (of high interest in the sector they work in). The URL for India counterpart http://www.rockwool.in/.

If rockwool is recyclable, we should promote that practice and divert it away from landfills or incinerators.

  • Please check the MSDS of rockwool

It is non-hazardous as per the above. However, adequate precautions must be exercised based on application for occupational health
