HOW TO HANDLE POLITICIANS OF WEST BENGAL???
Pradipta Halder Comment by Pradipta Halder on July 27, 2009 at 4:01am
Hi, is there any report available about stakeholders' perceptions of renewable energy/biomass energy from Indian perspective? I am planning to write a comparative article on bioenergy perceptions among different interest groups (will cover some European, North American and Asian countries). Thanks in advance/Pradipta

Is it possible to identify the highly polluted industries first, get them into the discussions and make a plan? I am sure there is already data about it. But the question is how to proceed?
Chandra Kishore Comment by Chandra Kishore on July 24, 2009 at 2:27pm
I agree with Prdaipta. However, every problem has opportunity built into it. If industry and citizens think that cleaning air and other pollutants is profitable and desirable and the Government supports its with policies, a movement towards clean technology can automatically take place.

I agree with Vijay that we should in this forum create or pool together a body of business knowledge that helps industry understand how to go about the business of cleaning our environment.

I think the main problem is the law enforcement in India in environmental matters. We are amazingly careless about our natural resources, environment and the country as a whole. We are happy to set up Task Force for tiger conservation but tiger is disappearing like anything from India. If air pollution is being checked in the developed countries and in many developing countries then why we can't do it in India? We have a great attitudinal problem towards these kind of issues. Sometimes we make hue and cry and then forget. Problems remain the same. With government we are equally to blame.
M.Vijay Kumar Comment by M.Vijay Kumar on July 24, 2009 at 12:01pm
Air pollution is one of the major problem in India and thre are no agencies really capble of creating awareness and study the local problems and the suggest mitigation methods to the local authorities. One of the best and time tested procedurs are to create green cover in and surrounding industries and houses and communities. Lot of knowledge is available about the specis which are good carbon sinks with respect to the geographical regions of India. Is it possibe to organise all mathamatical models for quick and easy accessability to the industry and public at large.
