 Respected,

I am pawan kumar singh would like to share something with you: We, all are aware of the decline of the Gauraiya (house sparrow) and have experienced of not seeing Gauraiya in our cities so frequently (cited just for example purpose). We all are planting so many trees for just to green & beautification purpose, not to support purpose. We always justify our plantation with many facts like;

it is bird repellent tree plant it,

this tree leaves not eaten by animal plant it

Fruiting trees may create bird’s nuisance ……

this tree flower fragrance keeps animal away, plant it

this haze plantation look very beautiful & grow easily

this plant flowers looks good, will enhance city beauty

it is beautiful tree provide aesthetic value to city, to park, to streets, to….so on

      it is fast growing tree

Oh there should be a Cycas tree, Christmas tree, Palm tree, Croton……

this tree is from XYZ country, it looks awesome, it may suitable to our country climate, so plant here

      and many others

Plants of Alestonia, Polyalthia, Ficus benjamina, Palm, and many others have destroyed faunal support system

This said planning has eaten our traditional trees (Pipal, Aam, Bargad, kela, Mehandi, Jamun, Ber, Amrood, Imli, shehtoot, tulsi, Shisham, and so many others-have potential to support fauna)

Do we ever considered the following fact while Designing Park, road median, city plantation, pubic plantation, landscape, Govt. institution landscape:

This tree will provide shelter to birds & other fauna

This tree will act as roosting site

This tree will provide food to fauna

This tree will support honey Bees

      Plant of religious value

This tree will provide more oxygen & will create oxygen zone in the city

This tree native to our city / state /

Provision of water pots for birds/animal at trees, parks, garden, Govt. buildings, commercial building

      And so many other fact

There is an urgent need to understand “Green with Purpose”

Well said... but I think the problem lies with current system of work. Most of the EAC and SEAC prefer horticulturists or landscape consultants who look for artificial beauty and hardy plants, with less labor required. Pipal, Aam, Bargad, kela, Mehandi, Jamun, Ber, Amrood, Imli, shehtoot, tulsi, Shisham, are plants that are promoted by the individual persons making their houses rather development authorities plant exotic plant species. Awareness among the various development actors regarding the same is of paramount importance. A very nice step..... Go ahead I and IP's (Individual Persons) are with you.
