Course: M Tech Course in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering (EWRE) at Karunya University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu

Course Content in Nutshell: The course introduces the scholars with curriculum for concentrated study on Integrated Water Resources Management, water and wastewater treatment, hydrology, environmental chemistry and microbiology, atmospheric modeling, Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), ecosystem approach in water management, water quality and mixing process in the streams. The importance of hazardous (E-waste) and solid waste management, application of nanotechnology, modeling and simulation, systems approach, isotopes and RS/GIS in environmental and water resources engineering will form the part of the course.

 

Career Opportunities: Government sectors such as state PCB, PWD, Water Supply and Drainage Board, private sectors such as Tata Engineering Consultancy Services, L& T etc., industries and research organizations like NEERI, CWRDM, CLRI etc.

 

Eligibility: Graduates in engineering and postgraduates in physical and chemical science subjects with at least one subject dealing with mathematics at Undergraduate Level are eligible for this two-year inter-disciplinary course. About Water Institute and Department of Civil Engineering:

The Water Institute and Department of Civil Engineering have laboratory facilities with sophisticated instruments such as Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, Total Organic Carbon Analyser, UV Spectrophotometer for liquid and solid sample analysis, table coater for membrane preparation, aqua meter for geophysical studies, ocean current meter, automatic groundwater level monitor, microbiology lab facility etc. for carrying out academic, research and consultancy activities. MoUs are in operation with BenGurion (Israel), Israel Institute of Technology, Technion, RWTH (Aachen), Milwaukee University, USA and NIH Roorkee, India. Research collaboration and consultancy works have been carried out with the support of MoEF, DST, Wilbur Smith, etc. Under International Association for Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE), the scholars get opportunity to carry out their internship abroad.
