Ekonnect and Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) have come up with a course on Biodiversity Impact Assessment and Management.

Who is this for?

This course has been designed for practicing as well as aspiring EIA professionals who wish to specialize in Biodiversity-inclusive impact assessment.

What is the duration of the course?

The 8-week course will draw heavily on BNHS' unparalleled expertise and experience in carrying out EIAs of high-biodiversity-footprint development projects throughout India.

Course Faculty: Dr. Deepak Apte, COO, BNHS and Dr. Prasad Modak, internationally-renowned Environmental Management expert, adjunct professor IIT, Bombay and Chief Sustainability Officer, IL&FS Ltd.

The course will employ a 'case study' based approach to provide a practical insight into ground realities. Replete with case studies of BNHS' decades-long work in the Indian Biodiversity space, the course deals not only with impacts of major development activities but also with small but insidious impacts. The course will include a two-week hands-on field training on biodiversity assessment techniques and ecological surveys.

The is a blended learning course - the first six modules will be taught online (the free preview would have given you a flavor of what to expect from the online modules). The deadline for completion of the 1st module is Sunday 9th Nov. Thereafter the 2nd module will be opened up. For the 7th and the 8th modules you will be taken to one of BNHS' projects sites for fieldwork (the details of which will be provided to you in due course). Upon successful completion of the course, you will be awarded a joint Ekonnect-BNHS certificate.
