case study on stone crushers

I am doing MTech from NIT Hamirpur. I am doing my dissertation work on stone crushers.  So I want ideas about my project and some environmental issues to be discussed. Please suggest good ideas which will help me for my project.

  • Stone Crushers give rise to fugitive dust emission problems, for control of which Central Pollution Control Board gives the following:

Schedule-I: Standards for Emission or Discharge of Environmental Pollutants from various Industries

    The Environment (Protection) Rules, 1986

     STONE CRUSHING      UNIT

    Suspended Particulate Matter

The suspended particulate matter measured between 3 metres and 10 metres from any process equipment of a stone crushing unit shall not exceed 600 microgrammes per cubic metre.

Emissions from Stone Crushing Units can best be controlled by installing dust suppression-cum-containement systems. Such dust emission can be substantially reduced locally by (1) suppression using atomised water sprays as per requirements across the Jaw Crusher, Transfer/Discharge Points on Belt-Conveyors, with proper corrugated tin housing for these points for further containment, and also by (2) water sprays as required on the haul roads.

High Volume Samplers are used for monitoring and measurements of the SPM as per the standards prescribed by CPCB/SPCBs.

  • Stone Crushers has dust emissions and they also involve washing. thus they also generate effluent. A code of practice has to be followed for control of pollution arising from stone crusher. every state government has notified code of practise. if you need notifications related to code of practise prescribed for stone crushers in Punjab you can message me.

  • Both Mining & Crushing of Stones involved heavy emissions of Dust / Particulate Matter Stone Crusher Pollution Control Equipment and their deployment and efficacy and for further study you can also visit: http://www.girirajhotel.com/process/how-to-control-dust-pollution-o...

  • Hi,

M.Tech students from Sambalpur University have done a study on environmental impact of stone crushers with us. Please brief us what are the environmental parameters you want to study - air, water or biological... We can throw some ideas.
